God's Production Ministries, Inc. (GPM Inc.) was founded by Clara Kennedy Witherspoon and recognized by the NC Secretary of State in November 1999. On May 16, 2000, GPM Inc. received a federal designation as a nonprofit ministry. The ministry began supporting children in neighborhoods where the arts were not easily accessible to some children. Mrs. Witherspoon reached out to the Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Club to schedule a meeting with the facility director, and a beautiful relationship between both agencies started.
God's Production Ministries, Inc. began its transformative journey with the students by offering Bible lessons and various activities that encouraged the development of positive life skills. A new chapter was introduced as the children began to trust the volunteers. This was a turning point, as the students not only learned about the arts but also discovered a new way to express themselves. In July 2002, they performed a stage play, "Going to See The King," written and produced by our founder. The Arts and Science Council recognized this potential and awarded a partial grant, with Mr. & Mrs. Witherspoon providing the additional funding needed to ensure the stage presentation was a success.
